Undergraduate Research
Philosophy
My primary goal with respect to
undergraduate
research is to give students a realistic view of the research process
so
they can make an informed decision as to whether they want to pursue a
research career. In my lab, undergraduates carry out their own
projects
addressing objectives of our research program. Through this experience,
students have the opportunity to acquire technical skills, to maintain
organized research records, and to generate publication quality
data.
I strive to provide students with an opportunity to present their work
at a conference and/or as part of a refereed publication.
Undergraduate students particpate in
our
research as volunteers, for academic credit or as paid research interns
(subject to prior experience and the availability of funds).
Students interested in participating should send, by e-mail, a brief
summary
of their academic background, professional goals, and reasons for
pursuing
undergraduate research training. (See contact information below.)
