As state Extension Vegetable Specialist, I provide leadership to Extension programs and activities that relate to the production of vegetables and herbs in all not-for-sale situations. I work with and for County Agents to keep them and their clientele abreast of latest production techniques and technologies that apply to gardens. My duties and methods include publishing information such as in journals, bulletins, newsletters, and other forms of print media, delivering oral presentations at various meetings and conferences, conducting innovative projects that are beneficial and necessary to reaching all clientele, training para-professionals (like Master Gardeners) and county agents to complete their missions, and maintaining updated competence in technologies related both to my crops and to educational delivery methods. Planning and reporting, and the pursuance of financial support are vital parts of what I do.
