Weed Science

The weed science program utilizes information generated by biological, physiological, biochemical, and genetic studies of crops and weeds to improve weed management strategies for horticultural crops. The program includes research on:

1. herbicide metabolism, including herbicide selectivity mechanisms and herbicide resistance
2. crop/weed competition, crop density effects on weeds, weed/weed competition, and allelopathy
3 . herbicide efficacy, crop safety, herbicide residue studies, and biological, mechanical and cultural control of weeds
