The twelfth annual Postharvest Horticulture Industry Tour will provide an opportunity to experience first-hand the latest technologies for handling and shipping subtropical and tropical fruits, warm and cool season vegetables and ornamental crops. This tour is designed for produce industry professionals, educators, researchers and students involved in such diverse areas as field and packinghouse management, wholesale and retail sales, and import/export.

Tentative Itinerary

March 5 - Depart Gainesville and visit vegetable operations in southeast Florida

March 6 - Homestead: vegetable and tropical fruit harvest, handling, packing and cooling

March 7 - Miami area: airport and port facilities, APHIS inspection, citrus packing

March 8 - Central Florida: fresh-cut processor, produce distribution warehouse

The tour will depart from Gainesville early Monday morning, March 5th, and return to Gainesville on Thursday evening, March 8th. Tour enrollment will be limited to 40 participants.
